Come to Broward ESE Advisory’s virtual Dyslexia & Specific Learning Disability committee meeting on Monday, October 18th, 6.30 pm-8.30 pm (on Microsoft Teams).

Do you think your child may have a reading difficulty? Maybe they already have an IEP/504 plan that provides services and accommodations for Dyslexia or another Specific Learning Disability (SLD)? Whether you’re new to the world of Dyslexia/SLD or whether you’re a veteran, this meeting has lots of great info to support you and your child on the journey.

We’ll have discussions & presentations on:

What to do if you feel your child has a reading difficulty - with Lori Canning, Executive Director of Early Learning & Language Acquisition, Broward Cty Public Schools (BCPS); Mildred Grimaldo, Director of Literacy for BCPS; and Christina Reyes, District Coordinator of Support Services. This will include a look at the district’s new informational brochure on this topic & how to seek help.

An overview of instructional resources - with Keondra Pierre-Eafford, SLD Curriculum Supervisor, BCPS

Exceptional Student Learning Support (ESLS) updates - with Stephanie Acosta Castro, Curriculum Supervisor, ESLS.

Around 11,000 children in Broward schools have a Specific Learning Disability. This group exists to support and inform parents, caregivers, educators, and anyone in their orbit, and meetings include opportunities for Q&As with district personnel. Everyone is welcome. The Teams link to click on will be posted on our Facebook page and on our web page at www.browardeseadvisorycouncil.com It will also be emailed out by BCPS towards the end of next week so please keep an eye on your inbox.
